Revaluing the Biodiversity Resources of the Bolivian Chiquitania: A Scientific Perspective on Strengthening Local Communities
Keywords:
Bolivian biodiversity, Chiquitania, bioactive compounds, sustainable revaluationAbstract
Bolivian biodiversity constitutes one of the country’s greatest assets and a strategic opportunity for sustainable development. In this study, the content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids was evaluated in tropical fruits from the Chiquitania. The results revealed variable concentrations of bioactive compounds, with Solanaceae sp. and the peels of several fruits standing out as the fractions with the highest antioxidant potential. A positive correlation between phenolics and flavonoids was observed. These findings highlight the importance of revalorizing commonly discarded by-products, promoting their utilization, and recognizing biodiversity as a strategic heritage for Bolivia.
