About the Journal
Science and Culture is a magazine of the Bolivian Catholic University "San Pablo" that is published every six months. Its objective is to contribute in monographic numbers to the dissemination of Bolivian science, culture and art, especially the intellectual production of professionals and scientists from the different departments of the university. Sometimes it organizes seminars or debate sessions dedicated to specific current and important topics, the results of which are published in the magazine. It also receives contributions from invited specialists. For the edition of the monographic issues, specialists are invited to form part of the Editorial Board.
Current Issue
The journal Ciencia y Cultura presents issue 55, the second volume of Views and Reflections: Bolivia at its Bicentennial, as a critical contribution to the historical, political, social, and cultural analysis of the country. The issue opens with the Inaugural Lecture on Humanism by Juan Carlos Salazar, focused on the challenges facing Bolivian democracy. It includes articles on nineteenth-century scientific explorations, Chiquitano biodiversity, architecture, Chaco War literature, urban memory, constitutional biocentrism, and environmental governance. The volume also features historical, cultural, and scientific studies, a visual essay on Walter Solón Romero, historical chronicles, academic reviews, and a photographic selection by Julia Vargas-Weise. Overall, it reaffirms the academic and cultural commitment of the Universidad Católica Boliviana.
